Jocelyn Route is a mother, social worker, certified death doula, licensed foster parent, public servant and  proven leader ready to be our Prince George's County Register of Wills.

Jocelyn Route, MSW, is a public health and human services leader with over

19 years of experience advancing mental health, trauma-informed systems,

and community wellness. She currently serves as Senior Advisor – Wellness

Integrator for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission

(M-NCPPC) Department of Parks and Recreation, where she leads the

strategic integration of holistic wellness frameworks across employee and

community initiatives.​

Jocelyn Route has successfully steered a reputable career path in public

service. Jocelyn previously served in the federal government workforce as a

Public Health Advisor at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), where she oversaw federally funded initiatives and ensured accountability, compliance, and responsible stewardship of public resources. She holds a Master of Social Work with a macro mental health concentration and is a doctoral candidate in Human Services. A nationally certified death doula and licensed treatment foster parent in the State of Maryland, Jocelyn has supported individuals and families through some of life’s most vulnerable and transitional moments.

A self-published children’s book author, Jocelyn has written a book introducing young readers to the functions of local government, reflecting her commitment to civic education and public trust. In 2023, she founded Elevation Hope, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting mental health wellness and awareness. Her professional and community work has consistently centered on dignity, transparency, and service.

A proud homeowner in the Sunnybrook subdivision of Bladensburg, Maryland, Jocelyn previously served as an elected Council Member for Ward 1 and as an At-Large Member of the Prince George’s County Board of Education. Her experience in governance, oversight, and public accountability informs her commitment to ensuring the Register of Wills office operates with integrity, clarity, and compassion. Family, she affirms, remains her greatest motivation for public service.
